My career as an advertising, editorial portrait, and lifestyle photographer has spanned decades. My current work, both photography and feature writing, is inspired by farms and farm people, real food, and the beauty and power of land.

Perpetually curious and interested in people's lives, I approach each shoot and interview with sensitivity and attentiveness. I’m drawn to life as it is--messy and beautiful--and I create intimate moments of connection and authenticity.

Through my ongoing project Grounded Women, I share inspiring stories of women who steward the land in responsible and regenerative ways. The images and interviews capture the hard work of building a healthy food system and a healthy planet.

I’ve been fortunate to work with a wide variety of wonderful clients, including Target, Hanes, Dupont, Motrin, State Farm, Northern Trust, Disney, Taryn Rose (the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned), The Washington Post, Civil Eats, Taproot, Okra Magazine, Yoga Journal, Cooking Light, and Farm Aid.

Awards have come from Communication Arts, AIGA, Graphis, PDN, The Art Director's Club of NY, and International Color Awards, among others.

When not out shooting for clients, you can find me in the kitchen dealing with mounds of vegetables. I host a year-round CSA site, bringing farm-fresh organic food to my community. I have taught fine art photography in various venues, from prison to higher education to photography workshops on family farms.

I am based in the Washington, D.C., region and available for travel.
